STAGE THREE: TRAINING

MENTAL HEALTH WORKPLACE BLUEPRINT

Stage 3: Training of our Mental Health Workplace Blueprint provides three seperate training courses. Mental Health First Aid Training, Mental Health Response Training and Manager & Supervisor Training. These 3 seperate training courses provide further in depth training to assist workplaces in becoming mentally healthy and supportive. All 3 of these courses are evidence based and researched backed.

PART 1: MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING

Course participants learn about:
• Signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems
• How to provide initial help
• Where and how to get professional help
• What sort of help has been shown by research to be effective
• How to provide mental health first aid in a crisis situation

Developing mental health problems covered are:
• Anxiety problems
• Psychosis
• Substance use problems
• Depression

Mental health crisis situations covered are:
• Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
• Non-suicidal self-injury (sometimes called deliberate self
-harm)
• Panic attacks
• Traumatic events
• Severe effects of drug or alcohol use
• Severe psychotic states
• Aggressive behaviours.

Course Format:
This is a 12 hour course, which can be delivered as either;
• A 2-day training package (6 hours per day), OR
• 4 separate training modules (3 hours each)

Course participants receive a copy of the Standard MHFA Manual to keep and a Certificate of Completion.

PART 2: MENTAL HEALTH RESPONSE TRAINING

Course participants learn about:
• Signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems
• How to provide initial help
• Where and how to get professional help
• What sort of help has been shown by research to be effective
• How to provide mental health first aid in a crisis situation

Developing mental health problems covered are:

• Psychosis

Course participants receive a Certificate of Completion & a Mental Health Response Manual.

Course Format:
This is a 4 hour course and participants receive a certificate of completion and a resource book.
